Classical Reform Service
“Let us adore the ever-living God and render praise unto the One who spread out the heavens and established the earth....” These stirring words are some of the magnificent writing found in the Union Prayer Book and sung at services in the days when BHC’s Sanctuary was packed full on Friday nights, congregants dressed in their finery, and the clergy were adorned in robes and mites. Each year we attempt to recreate that atmosphere during the Classical Reform Service. Join us this year on Friday, May 19, 7 PM. Our prayers include excerpts from early versions of our Shabbat prayerbooks, and the BHC choirs, Kol Rinnah and the professional ensemble, join forces to sing some of the beloved music from 40 to 50 years ago. We welcome Shabbat with Rabbi Busch, Rabbi Sachs-Kohen, Cantor Solomon and Cantor Sacks.
