BHC Justice is proud to present FACTUALITY the Game at Baltimore Hebrew Congregation. FACTUALITY is a facilitated dialogue, crash course, and board game, all in one, that simulates real life experiences in America. It is played with a rich group of diverse characters that encounter a series of fact based advantages and limitations based on the intersection of their race, gender, sexual orientation, faith, and class. This 90-minute experience allows participants to get comfortable with being uncomfortable, allowing for a courageous conversation about structural inequality, in America.
The game’s creator, Natalie Gillard, is a former professor at Stevenson University, Notre Dame of Maryland, and other institutions of higher learning. She created FACTUALITY in 2016, and since then has been using the game to train individuals and groups about race, equity and inclusion, achieving, in one participant’s words, “more in 90 minutes than other facilitators have in a 3-day workshop.”
BHC Justice has asked Natalie to bring the Baltimore version of her game for our September 15 FACTUALITY experience. The event will start with a light lunch at noon, with the program to begin around 12:45. The event is free to BHC members, $18 for non members. Childcare is available for BHC member families. Seats are limited, and registration is required.
